Part 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to tell Jesus&#8217; story in a way that creates connections, even collisions,\u00a0with people&#8217;s experiences today.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking beyond the book, some other concept-options\u00a0on the table were a timed virtual tour (like on museum Web sites), a Twitter feed, and sending text messages.<\/p>\n<p>I had already written a\u00a0program to send text messages, so by\u00a0the summer 2009, I started getting excited about writing a story using text-message events taking place in real-time.<\/p>\n<p>After more research,\u00a0I wrote text messages for the week before Easter 2010. And I asked, Would this text message idea create the collisions of experience that I envisioned?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am struck by the fact that Jesus is not in a hurry.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>My mom said that after receiving the messages during the 2010 beta test week. If you know the story, you know that Jesus dies on Friday.\u00a0My mom was struck by Jesus&#8217; calm because she had been recently diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The collision of experience was instinctive. It was\u00a0almost expected given the medium.<\/p>\n<p>The real-time texts increased the tensions of the ordinary (the little things we deal with day to day).<\/p>\n<p>The format slowed down the story and increased suspense.
